Nishiki River

The longest river in Yamaguchi Prefecture. With water so clear that the riverbed can be seen, the Nishiki River is well worth a visit.

This clear river flows through Iwakuni City from North to South, and spills out into the Seto Inland Sea. With a total length of 110km, it is the longest river in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Iwakuni City, blessed with the clear waters of the Nishiki River, has become a thriving location for sake-brewing. A range of world-famous sake brands are brewed here, including Dassai.
Furthermore, a local train-line called the “Nishikigawa Seiryu Line” runs alongside the river, allowing you to enjoy the clear river waters and seasonal scenery from the train window.
