Uno Chiyo Birthplace
The well-tended Japanese garden is a highlight.
Uno Chiyo was a female novelist born in Iwakuni City in 1897. She published many famous works of literature until her death at the age of ninety-eight.
The highlight of this house, her birthplace, is Uno Chiyo’s much-loved garden. This traditional Japanese garden is resplendent with the colors of plum and cherry blossoms, autumn foliage, and moss. In particular, the season of the autumn colors, from late November until early December, is extremely beautiful and a perfect location for taking photographs.
Take a seat on the engawa (veranda) and gaze out onto the well-tended garden for an ideal moment of relaxation.
